Jefferson Davis
Jefferson Davis was the president of the confederate army (south). Jefferson Davis became president on Febuary 18, 1861. He then bombarded Fort Sumter, and this started the Civil War. Before he became president of the confederates, he used to be a colonel in the Mexican-American War, he was a secretary at war, and a United States senator. When he was sixteen years old he went to a military academy in West Point. This helped him become a really good leader and the reason why the confederates won so many battles at the beginning of the Civil War.
