Thesis: The civil war was a turning point in U.S. history because
· 1.) It ended slavery
· 2.) Led to military innovations
· 3.) Brought North and South together
Paragraph 1
· Grabber: America has got through many hardship that has made our nation to what it is today.
· Background: In 1861 the Civil War began in America , North and South America fought over Authority, 6200 of 24 million soldiers killed, 1854, law passer to end slavery, 1863, Lincoln passed emancipation proclamation to end slavery.

· Thesis: The civil war was a turning point in America because it ended slavery, led to military innovations, and brought the North and South together

· Baby thesis: In 1863, two years into the Civil War, Lincoln freed slaves.
· Evidence: The Civil War led to Lincoln’s actions to free the slaves.
· Argument: The Civil War Caused the slavery freemen.

· Baby Thesis: After the Civil War, many families mourned the deaths of friends and families.
· Evidence: 620’000 of 2.4 million men died. They made military innovations.
· Argument: Because 620’000 of 2.4 million soldiers were killed.

· Baby Thesis: Our nation is now called the United States of America because we are one, but in 1865, we fought against each other.
· Evidence: We fought for authority and slaves
· Argument: If we had not fought we would have not gotten better relationship with the other. There is a process for everything, in order to compromise you must argue and fight.

Through the great hardships and trouble, America has learned many things. These lessons have made America the nation that it is today. From my prospective, the Civil War was very beneficial for America’s future. The Civil War was indeed a turning point for America because it ended slavery, led to military innovations, and united the North and South. These are three things our nation still does.
